Safety, inside and out
Anti-slip plates and handrails provide safe and easy access to the ROPS-certified cab. Once inside the cab, the rear-view camera contributes to outstanding overall visibility and the audible seat belt alarm ensures the operator is correctly and safely wearing their seat belt.
Engine protection
Keep your turbocharger working in top condition for longer with the optional delayed engine shutdown. To avoid overheating, the intelligent function turns the machine off when the turbo charger has cooled down to the appropriate temperature – and can be set to activate automatically by the operator.
Service with speed
Quick and easy servicing helps keep uptime to a maximum, including grouped filters and greasing points. The single module cooler is also accessed with ease from the ground level simply by opening the side door. The radiator, charged air cooler and hydraulic oil cooler are situated side-by-side on a single layer to maximize efficiency, reduce blockages and aid cleaning.

The new generation EC400 delivers up to 10% more fuel efficiency compared to the previous generation. Features such as ECO mode plus the new generation electro-hydraulic system (positive), which works by reducing internal losses positively contribute to this fuel efficiency improvement.

Make every drop of fuel count with intelligent engine features, such as automatic engine idle and auto engine shutdown, which eliminate unnecessary fuel consumption, wear, lowering operating costs and reducing environmental impact.
The best mode for the job
Unique Volvo technology incorporates work modes within the throttle control, for optimum performance. When the operator selects a work mode – I (Idle), F (Fine), G (General), H (Heavy) and P (Power) – the rpm is already set for maximum efficiency.
Stay cool
A reversible hydraulically-driven, electronically controlled cooling fan regulates the temperature of vital components, securing long-lasting performance. The fan will automatically activate only when required – minimizing noise and fuel consumption. The reverse functionality blows air in the opposite direction, to enable self-cleaning.
Stay in the know
Machine features combine with Volvo Services to help monitor fuel usage and keep operating costs to a minimum. Stay in the know with the fuel gauge display, which provides visual information on both real-time and average fuel consumption. Opt for the Fuel Efficiency Report to get clear insights into the fuel performance of a fleet, site or individual machine, helping to identify areas for fuel efficiency improvements.
